About Yannina Taboada

Ever since I was small, Mexico was always a safe heaven for me. I was born in Portchester, New York, and moved back and forth from across the boarder with my grandparents. I've lived in Puebla, Texas, and a short time in LA, but I was too young to remember. Due to hellish circumstances in the USA,  my siblings and I finally got to stay in Mexico with my grandparents. I lived my best and safest years there, in my POV.  I lived the saddest day of my life there as well when my grandmother passed in 1996, it broke the peace and happiness that I so loved. I eventually chose to go live with my mom in the USA due to my grandfather's sorrow and grieving.

The change in culture was noticeable in the following years as I became a teenager; however, that didn’t keep me from graduating high school in 2002. Life happened again where I was put in unfortunate circumstances, and I eventually overcame them. In 2011, I attended Houston Community College, and then transferred to the University of Houston Down-Town. Finally, in 2015 I graduated with a Bachelors of Art in Fine Art and a minor in Art. I’ve been featured in the Holocaust Museum twice, New York, Chicago, and in London in 2023. My ultimate goal is to show my work in Puebla, Mexico. Finally, the traumas of the past have had a huge impact on my life, and have also been a gateway of my healing processes though painting.
